WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW TO AVOID GETTING CONNED

Recalibrated heads

Unfortunately, the LightSheer brand itself doesn't guarantee 100% quality any more since there are more and more lasers with recalibrated heads in our market. What does that mean? Every laser head has a specified life cycle. It's very important to replace the head with a new one at the right moment. It's common for many salons to treat with old and worn out laser heads. Identification of such head is very hard – the screen can display information about the power of 30 J, however, the real power is 15 J only. As a result, the effect of such treatment will be poorer or there won't be any effect at all.

Effects visible after the first treatment

One hair removal treatment with a properly working laser ensures destroying about 30-50% dark hair permanently. Don't believe those who say that you will see a difference after a series of treatments so you just need to wait. Obviously, a permanent effect is achieved after 3-4 treatments, but already after the first treatment you will definitely have less hair. That will be visible at once.

Treatment cannot be completely painless

When burning hair, you feel "hot pricking". If you have dark, strong hair, the pricking will be stronger, and if your hair is weak, so will be the pricking. If you don't feel anything during the treatment, it means your hair is too light or the laser is not working well, so there will be no effects.

Look for the Lightsheer title

You can find many devices for laser hair removal in the market. Unfortunately, most of them are cheap, Chinese fakes of the brand LightSheer system. The LightSheer diode lasers are the most effective ones. They work the best which has been proven by many studies and clinical tests carried out in the US. Be sure to check if the laser which will be used for your treatment has a visible "LightSheer" title. The photos of all LightSheer laser models available in the market are presented below – compare them and don't get conned by fakes:

Extremely low treatment price

Unfortunately, if treatment costs are far from average market prices, it means the quality of such device must be doubtful. Replacement of laser's elements, in particular the head, is necessary after some time. Every part has its lifespan and replacing such part at an authorized workshop is not cheap. A very low price of treatment suggests that devices are not serviced timely, have non-original parts and, as a result, are ineffective or minimally effective.

Alarmingly short time of treatment

To be precise and effective, a laser hair removal treatment, should take some time. During a treatment the laser head is put onto the shaved skin and a so-called "shot" is given. The area of laser's head (ET, ST) is 1 cm2 and so is the laser beam. The head should be placed spot after spot, centimetre by centimetre, until all hair is removed. For example, removing hair from calves with the laser head ET and ST should take about an hour and a half, while tight hair removal takes 2 hours. The treatment will be proportionally shorter with the XC head, which is twice as big. You should never use the head on the skin smeared with ultrasound gel – the treatment seems to be faster but it's imprecise and may cause burns. If leg hair removal takes between ten or twenty minutes, and if whole body hair removal takes an hour, such treatment is carried out correctly.

The bigger head is less effective

It's worth knowing that the latest model of the LightSheer Duet laser has two heads – a small ET and a big HS. The big head, widely advertised in recent months, unfortunately, turned out to be less effective than the small one. We recommend it only to people with low pain threshold – the treatment is less painful and carried out more quickly. Please notice that it should be repeated twice as many as in the case of the smaller heads (ET, ST and XC) to achieve the same satisfying effect.

Cleanness and hygiene

The device used for treatments must be carefully disinfected with proper cleaners each time. Check if a person carrying out the laser hair removal uses disposable gloves and if disposable swabs of cotton wool, shavers, tissues, towels and sheets are used in the salon. See if the room is clean and the staff is neat and tidy. The aim of sanitary procedures is to protect both clients and the staff against spreading and contracting infectious diseases and to improve the service quality.
